I had to make a comment about the lack of mechanical know how.. When I was being trained for a supervisor at my last job the supervisor at that time was training me on everything. He knew his way around a computer and thought he knew how to work on the machines. One day when something broke he told me to go ahead and try to fix it I crawled under and found what was wrong and I asked him for a Phillips screw driver and he came back and handed me a pair of vice-grips.. He actual thought he did good... True story

43. But back in the thread about what people listen to, I was shocked to see so many people I assumed were my age saying they listened to stuff like death metal and techno. So I assumed after that thread many of these guys were something like 16-21 y/o.

I would assume anyone who listens to techno is from Europe and wears skinny jeans.

51.....

Been doing automotive work since before I could drive. Learned most of it fixing my own stuff, as I couldn't afford to pay someone to do it for me. (yes, being poor makes you resourceful) I have been wrenching on things since, and on occasion, I actually got paid for it. I have worked as a wrench in both dealerships, and independent shops, service writer, and ran my own business for a while. (economy bit me on that one.) If it's broke, I can prolly fix it, machines are my bag.

Along about the mid 90's though... I got seriously tired of wrenching on things that liked to drip cold nasty stuff down my back. (hold your tongue VW.......) So, transitioned into computers. Where the parts were small, light, CLEAN, and NEVER saw a michigan winter. (did heavy trucks for a while too... if the parts weren't big and heavy, the tools to take them off were.....) Now, I am pretty much retired due to health issues. I DID find someone silly enough to give me a part time job as a PC tech though... little bit of extra money sure doesn't hurt.

I am 20, and I like to think I can handle a wrench.
