A leak.

Smell it, if it smells like coolant, it's your heater core. (rather common on these trucks...) If it smells like anything else, probably a water leak along the rear window, or third brake lite.

Could also be the air conditioner not draining. Mine would get the floor wet if I didn't stop for 20 minutes or so. I took a piece of hose and bent a 90* angle in it and stuck it onto the end of the drain for the A/C. No more problems. Check to make sure it's not clogged also.

I had this same problem as well. Double chek on the clogged thing. Dust accumulates and turns to mud....

If your not using the AC you wouldn't still get the water would you? I ask because I have the same problem. Caulked around the 3rd brake light and that solved 1 water problem but I still get water under the flood padding up under the dash and its not the heater core.
Sorry for the hijack...

AC turns on when you use the defrost option on many vehicles so if this is one one of those....

On the 98 and newer trucks, the only time the compressor ISN'T running, is if you have the vents set on heat...... On the older trucks, you actually have to turn the fan control to the a/c side, to get it to kick on.

also check under the passenger door on the very bottom of the truck, there are some drain vents that get clogged. stick a screwdriver in and clean them out. this happened on mine.

The 3rd brake lite is also notorious for leaking. And the rear rubber roof seals.
