Hey gd,

What is your thought on the function of those connectors used for the fans? They didn't seem all the that tight for like water.

They are not even close to water tight! ...lol.... In most cases, as the water can run out as it splashes in, it it probably OK. I usually like to use heat shrink tubing over them anyway, more to hold them together to prevent vibrating loose that water. As the are at the bottom, I may force some silicon grease inside before heat shrink.

I was missin one of the clips for the fan and sent them an e-mail. Garth called back, thinking I claimed I was missing a fan! I got the clip in the mail today. I think I will follow up with him and let him know I got the clip but to also let him kn ow about the missed hole in the bracket. Especially since it appears this is not a one off error since the same bracket was off on yours. It is a minor issue, but it would be better for their business if this is corrected. Some fool may get ticked over something this minor. It only took a few minutes to correct as I had only started the other bolts loosely to fit up anyway.

So you are going to lop off those connectors and go direct with heat shrink tubing? Yeah, makes sense. I'd like to maybe replace with better connectors down the road. We are pretty much done for rain here, but off trail water....has crossed my mind.

I agree about the hole misalignment. I don't mind contacting them also if you think that's beneficial.

I will install some connector in the event of fan failure, but then shrink wrap the connector unless I find one that locks together. I also soldered connections like the gray fan control to relay, the two blcak ground wires to one for one connection on fender. I then put heat shrink tubing on those.

Didn't get finished wiring yesterday. Had a root canal scheduled for today and dentist postponed until tomorrow.....more drugs! With the pain killers, I can really only work about an hour or so before I have to go sit down. Takes longer, but no big deal.

I thought I would pass this along for everyone. I installed Glow Shift gauges and really like them. (And HS Rockers came in today!)

For those that have installed the HS ROckers - what oil did you use? THe sheet from HS indicates that you must use an oil with zinc - and I cannot find any that is labeled as containing zinc. At the cost of these, I certainly do not want to risk warranty by not following directions. One parts store clerk told me Shel Rotella T has zinc, but it is not labeld as such and the website offers no such indication either.

(darn photobucket - cannot rotate and save.....)

Lucas makes a High-Zinc break-in oil in various weights.... might have to order it online if you can't find it locally.

Valvoline VR1 Racing oil is another option.

Comp Cams also has their own version of break in oil.....

Finding it is going to be the fun part, as the zinc (zddp) in the oil is rather bad for catalytic converters....... For 500 miles or so, I suppose it shouldn't be an issue.... but, I would change it out as soon as possible. (filter too...)

I love how you just assume that any oil put into any of our motors will exit through the catalytic converter
