Crank sensors are a frequent casualty of engine/trans swaps. You can change it without pulling the motor though. Just need your arm with three elbows.

I thought about trying that haha. I'll see what my mechanic friends suggest to do, then have them do it. They get paid in pop/beer/pizza so labor costs aren't too bad.

Well I guess my friend already took the old sensor out. The wires were pinched/cut. So I have to fork out $50 to get the new sensor and "should" get it in Saturday! But here are some pictures of the install for you pic ******! I'm terrible at taking constant progress pics because once my friends start working, it doesn't stop haha.

This is the double roller that was on the motor... little stretched out I'd say...

New motor all bundled up! I know it isn't clean, I cleaned all of the gasket surfaces that I needed. My theory behind it is that this motor will not stay clean. It goes off, over, under and through the road. Didn't want to spend time making it pretty.

And if you saw a suspicious Jeep grille in the background, it would be my buddy and his dad's project. A 1958 Jeep ****** Wagon. Been sitting in their backyard for 25 years and only has one 2"x3" area of rust! My old motor will potentially be rebuilt and thrown in this badboy this winter/spring.

I've looked up several different cam break in procedures so far. I've basically gathered that you idle it between 1500 and 3000 rpms for 20-30 minutes. Any other input? I'll be getting some zinc additive tomorrow and the crank sensor that I need and it will hopefully be running tomorrow or Sunday. Any other input?

Not sure if that's even necessary.... that break in procedure was for flat tappet cams. We have rollers..... much less friction/wear. Verify that it is even necessary.

Ah, looked back and it did say flat tappet, my bad. But would I still need any zinc additive or anything? My friend highly suggested I get some, but another said I wouldn't need it. Better be safe than sorry? Or would it hurt it?

Hey, does anyone know about AIRTEX parts? I was looking on RockAuto just for poops and giggles and saw this crankshaft sensor for $20 cheaper than O'Reilly's.

Any thoughts on it?
