I am real curious where the P0331 code comes from, considering out trucks don't even HAVE a knock sensor....... (to the best of my knowledge....)

How is your plug wire routing? Injectors plugged in tight? Good fuel pressure? New O2 sensor??

What spark plugs are in it? don't be using a cooler range plug. The Bosch copper plus plugs are what I am using. As posted wire leads routed ok and in good shape. Fuel sync has been set right?

Edit: I have had these motors apart many a time to say there is no typical knock sensor on/in them.

Currently running Champion Copper plugs. Haven't checked fuel pressure, new pre-cat 02 sensor, injectors should be tight but can check again, I can check plug wires again, but we were certain they were right. Not sure what fuel sync means. I just figured it had something to do with the computer not knowing what to do with the cam and whatnot. I haven't updated my SCT for the new heads/cam, that's what I thought was going on.

You are going to have to set the fuel sync no if or buts about it. Need to take it to a shop that has the right drb scanner and get it set.

Do you have a wide-band 02 for this rig if not you need one before you start asking for tunes for the tuner, he will have much better time in making a tune for if you can supply A/F readings.

Not yet, was hoping to get the AF gauge soon, but work is slow and money's tight. I won't be driving it too much until I can get the tunes and gauge. I'll see what I can do with the fuel sync. I know a few guys with shops so we'll see what we can do! thanks guys

The standard post I put up about fuel sync. In your case I would not mess with the meter way use a scanner. As you can see it will cause a miss if not set right.

I talked to a friend who has a scanner that can do a fuel sync, he just needs to know what I need to set it to. Considering that I have no idea what this means, I'm hoping you guys could help me out!

You want to set the fuel sync to "0" or as close to it as you can. You turn the distributor to adjust the fuel sync. On our engines timing is taken care of by the ECU so turning the dizzy doesn't have any affect on timing. Kind of throws us old school guys off a little. The dizzy controls the fuel sync.

The fuel sync tells the computer when to fire the injector. From my understanding you want to set it as close to 0 as you can for a factory motor. Then depending on mods sometimes the vehicle performs better to have it fire before or after the piston is at its TDC. Its one of those items you set it at zero and try it out, depending on the size of the cam you may want it to be higher on the plus side. Most of the dakota guys with cams try theirs somewhere around +4.

Hmmm ok, I guess I can ask Sean at Hemifever what he recommends as well.
