Says they are rebuilt. Don't waste your money on rebuilt heads. Need new, better castings.

This. Exactly. Those are remanufactured. Not what you want.

I'm in the same position as you. Half done and low on cash. I've saved up another 1k and I estimate it won't be running until I have 2k more on top of that. At least it's cold out and I wouldn't swap it now if I could. lol Helps me forget about it for now.

Haha yeah, good ol' ND weather...I still have about another $800 to go before I'm done, I'd estimate.

Sorry for the late update but Wednesday I paid the machine shop and my block and crank are back at school! I also bought some break in oil additive, assembly lube, and Oddessa heads as well!

So, this might be a dumb question, but do you have to get the computer for a 360 when u do the swap from the 318? I found a place that will sell me a running engine for $500, but the wiring harness and computer are an extra $150. Im planning on doing this swap also.

Depending on the year of the donor, all you would really need is the PCM. harness should be the same 98-01. if the donor is 96-97, neither the PCM, or the harness will work.

99-01 will give you issues with the trans wiring.....

Well mine is a 98 and he can get one for any year, so the harness should be fine. I just need the PCM. Thanks HeyYou

tot64,
It has been talked about a lot on here. You need to keep your PCM from your truck. The quick and easy fix is to contact Hemifever and he will sell you a SCT tuner that you can use to reflash your PCM with the needed fuel parameters for the 5.9. Just google Hemifever and it will take you in the correct direction.
