Default rust repair

hey guys gonna be starting some rust repair on the ole girl this weekend.

im going to be using fiberglass, instead of any sort of bondo.

for painting over it, ill be using a bedliner of some sort.

which do y'all prefer? there raptor liner, monstaliner, sem rockitliner, duplicolor bed armour, and rustolium bed liner. theres also regular rubberized undercoating, which doesnt work too well. i want something semi rust-resistant.

thanks for any help, ill be updating the thread with pics and info as i go...

If I may make a suggestion... I know how you feel my truck used to look similar. I used a lot of fibreglass and bondo mostly on the box sides. My rockers cab corners and fenders I replaced with new metal. I also used bondo on both my doors. My suggestion is start with a better box. I know it's not cheap that's why I didn't but its cheaper in the end. Not even a year later my box and doors looks like crap. Bondo is showing and the rust is coming through and yeah.. Now I'm looking for a better box to put on, which I should have done a year ago. By time you buy bondo, fibreglass, mixing pads, sand paper, primer and paint its almost the same price as a box in really good shape, especially a short box.

Are you going to treat the rust with a converter before the fiberglass? I've been down this road before. Hope you can get some enjoyment out of the project. I'd rather do mechanical work over body work any day haha.

Havent really thought about a rust converter... I plan on getting a new truck with tax returns so I dont really need to worry about it.

Motor will be dropped into a 5 spd 2wd dakota at some point when money allows...
