I need another JEEP like I need a hole in my head!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I normally hang out over in the TJ or Jeep Builds section. I have a thread in the Jeep Builds section of my TJ. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f22/w...l-now-2861457/
Well now for this story. 2 weeks ago I helped my son buy a XJ for him and his family so we could all go 4wheeling together. We have been window shopping ever since trying to come up with ideas. Well I also have a 13 year old daughter that is going to need a her own rig to drive pretty soon plus she wants a 4x4 so she can learn to wheel. She says it would be super cool to have her own 4x4 so she could go camping & 4wheeling with her dad and brother in her own rig. Just about made dads heart melt.
So I was surfing around looking on Craigslist last night and came across a 1995 Jeep XJ, 4.0 & AW4 pretty much stock but has a bad alt right now. Paid $700 for it and most likely could have gotten it for less but felt bad for the guy. So now I have two XJ's to work on along with my TJ. The TJ is torn down in the garage right now for getting a 408 stroker engine, built 46RE tranny. Have plans for other items too just haven't decided on what yet?!?! I don't pickup the Jeep until Halloween weekend due to schedule conflicts but as soon as I have it home I'll post pictures of it. I'm just going to go pick it up and trailer it home.
Does anyone have a good higher output alt? Might as well upgrade it since I need to replace it.

Stock unit appears to be 90 amp. According to what I have been finding, the V-8 version, which is 135 amps, can be installed with just a bit of modification to the bracket. 50% bump in output, without having to spend the big dollars on a custom aftermarket brand.

Check with Nation's Auto Electric. They may either have the parts to upgrade your current alternator or can do it for you. They upgraded the 6V starter for my 1949 Allis Chalmers tractor to 12V with current, off the shelf components.
