Default What is this sound?

What’s this sound? Grinding from around Water pump and alternator. Weird.

01 ram 1500 5.2 v8

(it seems to be at low speeds and idle, that or I just can’t hear it while driving over my exhaust and normal vehicle sounds)

it also doesn’t sound like it’s effected by RPM’s but again I can’t tell that well.

It sounds a little like timing chain slop but it also sounds like the fan hitting the shroud. Does the fan rotate okay by hand? (Engine off of course.)

Sounds like a loose pulley.

it rotates fine it seems to me and I didn’t even think about timing chain slop that’s a good point.

Well, sadly I was forced to drive it to work yesterday and checking my motor today, my coolant was low (it wasn’t before) my belt is fraying, towards the motor and there’s a thick white line through it. Assuming a pulley isn’t aligned like you guys assumed. However, I’m leaking coolant and oil. I think it’s pulley and timing cover

(No, it’s not a crack, just the perspective of the photo luckily)

I just took my belt off and my water pump pulley is wobbling. It’s loose I think
