P0300, 301, 307 and 351 Codes help.
1996 Ram 4WD 5.9l
Ok so the truck is throwing the codes P0300, P0301, P0307 and P0351. I've reset this a few times and they keep coming backplus I've done the following things.
New front O2 sensor
New plug wires
New Cap
New rotor
New Accel coil
MSD 6AL
So I'm stumped on the misfire and faulty coil codes. I did see an article about wire routing for the misfire codes so I've not done that one yet. Any other suggestions?

misfire is quite possibly due to wire routing, it's by far the cheapest and easiest way to start too....faulty coil, even if it's not causing problems now, may well down the road. i'd reroute the wires, clear the codes and see what happens from there. how's it actually running?

RE: P0300, 301, 307 and 351 Codes help.
This truck is a new additionto the drivewayso I don't have a good history and only a few hundred miles. Truck seems to be running good and I've not noticed any misses or misfires when the light comes one. It's probably a tad rich from the exhaust fumes. I also need to crawl on top to look into the TBand check for the dreadedpleunm gasket as it's gone through a quart in probably 500-600 miles The lights came on at various times so no clue for reasoning.
I'll work on the wire routing this weekend as I dread it from the PIA the wires and cap were in the first place. If that's the reason sure seem the computers a bit touchy.

RE: P0300, 301, 307 and 351 Codes help.
I just had this on mine : intermittently spitting a p0306 code and had a slight (hard to even feel) miss. Compression was 120 psi on cyl. #6 and approximately 175-180 psi on all other cyls. Only other thing noted during compression test was that on cyls #5 and #7 took more cranks to come up to full reading. So went ahead and pulled both heads and sent them to machine shop. Passenger side head had a crack on cyl. #6 and the seats were messed up on the drivers side head on cyls. #5 and #7. Put 2 new heads on and run GREAT now. Take it for what it's worth. Not exactly the same but similar.

P0300 (M) Multiple Cylinder Mis-fire Misfire detected in multiple cylinders.
P0301 (M) CYLINDER #1 MISFIRE Misfire detected in cylinder #1.
P0307 (M) CYLINDER #7 MISFIRE Misfire detected in cylinder #7
P0351 (M) Ignition Coil # 1 Primary Circuit Peak primary circuit current not achieved with maximum
dwell time.
thats what your codes mean.
Good Luck fixing the problems

RE: P0300, 301, 307 and 351 Codes help.
Sounds like a problem/issue with the crankshaft position sensor, which sits at the base of the distributor. Could be out of alignment (there is a mark on the distributor that the notch aligns with on the CKP), or a bad electrical connection. I removed mine, cleaned the grease out of the contacts, and it worked great afterwards.

Thanks for the replies, it looks like I have a few things on the todo list for this weekend. I hadn't thought of valve seats so I'll do a compression test. I'm guessing from the codes I should suspect cylinder 1 and 7 having issues.
I'll also check/clean the crank position sensor.
Thanks again!
