hey guys, just wanted to say hi here.

i got a 98 dodge ram laramie 5.9L shortbox 4x4. got a k&n air filter, pretty positive its chipped, with a 5" lift and 295/75/17's on the puppy.

i got a question tho. when i got her pinned, hauling down the highway, say at about 120 or other shift points its real rough, kind of jerky type deal, and i spoke to a couple people and i told them it was chipped they said i'd have to set the shift points, is this true? if so could i be lead in the right direction to do it myself or should i take it to someone, also would someone know the specs for hp, tq etc... on thisthanks guys.

the chip wouldent affect the shift points, the trany shift points are not contrlled by the PCM, if you wannt adjust the shift points look here http://www.v8performance.com/tipsandtricks.htm#TVCable

as for specs, fron the facrory, HP 245 @ 4000 rpm
torque 330 ft. lbs. @3250 rpm

so what could you suggest that's causing this type, like are these a symptom of something going bad or...

yeah, got a new tranny cooler rad type deal and had the fluid up 100%

 

not trying to be mean but can you describe it better is it slipping, revving, stalling...try to be as descriptive as possible and maby type it out in a word program then copy and past it here, that's what i do or no one would be able to read it hehe

could be a lot of things from what you have sed, tranny, tps, in need of a true up (plugs wires and such)

 

well it runs wicked all the time. say for instance im going down the highway doing 110, and someone's ahead of me and i want to pass, so i stomp on it and say around 120 it just acts like it cant go further type thing, just coughs, then i let off the gas and stomp it again and its fine. only usually happens when passing

 

Sounds like a rev limiter.
