Default Sirius Satilite Radio is AWESOME

I just picked up a Sportster 5 and installed it in the overhead console. The selection of channels is amazing. Local radio around my area sucks and doesn't come in that clear sothis is areal nice change.

Ya, I love mine. I make a lot of long drives out into the eastern plains of Colorado where there is few radio stations, and also into the mountains were reception can be poor. Having the Sirius is awesome. One of my favorite features is the stored artist/song feature. I can store up to 25 artists or songs, and when one comes on any channel, it will notify me so I can switch to that channel if I want. I like the replay feature too, can play back up to 70 minutes.

If you haven't already, I highly recommend the hardwire kit that lets you wire it directly into your radios antenna. It eliminates almost all outside static you get when you use it with just the open air broadcast install method. Costs a little more to buy the kit (got mine at Best Buy), but the install is easy I thought. Just have to tear apart the front of the dash, and pull out your sterio. The rest is easy. I also hard wired mine into a switched ignition source instead of plugging it into the cigerette lighter. Makes the install much cleaner, no wires visible anywhere.

Here's some pictures of mine, and how I routed it from the antenna. The antenna is above the driver door (just barely visible in the picture). It slips under the weather stripping, and comes into the cab down by the door hing. From there it immediatly enters into the dash and is hidden behind the dash all the way to my radio's antenna. I also custom made the mount that you see in the picture. It uses the two screws that are in the ashtray to mount. Works perfect, and makes it easy to reach and see while driving.

that is a way better settup than my dad has in his truck. he has xm radio and it is on top of the rear view mirror and there are wires going everwhere. one to the back of the truck to pick up the xm signal, the transmitter going out the door inbetween the weather stripping, and the power cord going into the cigarette lighter. kinda sucks when your trying to drive.
