Kegger Intake Mod DIY
http://www.hughesengines.com/Index/p...r&partid=23044
Found this one surfing the www. Is this the samething you all are trying to do. Making the runners smaller and filling the intake in? What do you all use to fill in with? Is it worth the work?

I don't know about the RPM. Whatever is normal. I just don't want to waste my time doing the intake mod if not really any results to show for it.
In and of itself, you probably won't notice a difference with or without the mod. What you WILL notice is that your truck runs better fixing that huge vacuum leak..... (and you will use less oil....)
The kegger mod doesn't do a lot by itself, BUT, it COMPLIMENTS subsequent mods. Bigger throttle body, headers, free-flowing exhaust, 1.7 rockers, SCT Tuner.... and whatever else you throw into the mix.
As it stands, the stock keg will limit gains from other mods, simply due to the long runners, and the limited amount of "space" available for the runers to draw air. Shortening the runners also has the effect of unshrouding them, giving the better access to the air volume in the plenum.
So, basically, if you don't plan on doing any other mods, kegger mod isn't worth the time. If, however, you have additional plans for your engine.... then, by all means, go for it.
I have a completely stock motor, aside from the kegger mod, I absolutley LOVE the way the engine runs now. I plan on eeking just as much out of the motor as I possibly can though, and this mod was free. Just took some time to do it up. Time is one thing I seem to have an awful lot of......

Here is what I'm doing this weekend: Plenum Fix, Timing Chain, Magnaflow CAT, O2 Sensor, SCT Tuner. Does this qualify for doing the Kegger mod or not? I will probably be getting the 1.7 rocker arms in a two or three months. Thanks.
Do it I will then. I know it certainly can't hurt. It seems that having better air flow is always a good thing. Just the time factor I was concerned about if no real, meaningful difference. I've got a small air grinder which will make it go more quickly. Thanks.
I picked up another manifold at the local scrap yard, and modified that one. Just transferred everything from my old one, to the new one when the time came. That way, I could take my time on modding the manifold, and still be able to drive the truck.

IIRC the 7hp was on a 5.2? From what ive read the 5.9 responds much better to these mod's?
hey. i have a 2x4 single cab v6 3.9L Dakota it has the NV3500 5 speed. i understand this is the same tranny that is hooked to the 5.7L im thinking its much cheaper to build power with a 350. also i can get a vin change to over ride the OBD II being that its a 1997. (unless anyone knows someone that can shut off the monitors on the pcm. i believe the motor mounts off my 318 should work with a little mod. im looking for everyones input on this and info if anyone has done it.
