Default time for a tuneup but i cant find it!!!

ok i have seen the accel cap, roto and wires along with champion truck plugs are popular on here. i plan on getting these items for my ram tomorrow. but i cant find it for the 5.2.i've gone on autopartswarehouse.com and its all listed for the 5.9 accept for the wires and plugs. otherwise the cap and rotor "according to that" dont work for the 5.2. so my ? is what is recommended for the 5.2 or would it work on it?

Plugs are Champion RC 12YC, and gap at 0.035. The cap and rotor are the same for all V-8s'. Wires also.

+1 The distributor is the same for both the 5.2 and 5.9. No differences at all. I actually did the 5.2 to 5.9 swap in my truck and used my original 5.2 distributor.

I would stick with the mopar cap & rotor... my experience with the accell was it did not hold up as well/long as the originals and there was no measureable benifit to having them.

How about the Napa ones? Thats what I've run and I haven't really had problems with them. Atlhough the last one I changed did have a little corrosion on one of the terminals. I think it was the coil one. This was after probably 35-40k miles. Other than that it looked okay to me.

Hey guys, quick question on this topic...

Are there certain things to look for to tell if you actually need to replace the cap and rotor? Or is it just a good idea to do it periodically anyway??

I have about 86K on my truck.

I use NAPA brand cap and rotor in my truck, but only the brass contact ones. In my experience, non brass contacts seem to have a bad corrosion problem with aluminum ones.

I noticed the issue after running the MSD off-road box on my 2000, I went with the accell stuff only to find that the performance did not last as long as the stockers... that is why I'd recommend sticking with the stockers. Brass is a soft metal and the gap between the rotor & contact will expand at a greater rate IMO... the wider the gap, the more potential for problems sooner.

I have seen them with aluminum contacts at the end of the rotor and inside the cap where the rotor arcs to and outside the cap where the plug wires plug into. I've always had corrosion with aluminum. Never the same issue with brass contacts and I run the MSD6AL ignition in my truck.
