Taking a Trip
I wasn't trying to be "hip" as you call it. I was just stating the obvious. I have never talked bad about you before. Hell I thought it was rude of some of the others that rag on you all the time. I see it now though you ask a question and then don't care what the answer is anyway. Why bother even asking?? Just call a shop or something and leave the bs off the forum.
I'm done now have a nice trip
I'm done now have a nice trip
What was that Big and Rich song from a few years back..... Oh yea, Love Train.
Maybe thats what needs to happen here.

While towing OD IS OFF !!!! thats with any truck !!!!!! So with daddys truck droping in and out of OD with his f150 cause it was wee bit under power ?? then what the hell do you think that your truck is gonna do ?? Gonna drop in and out of OD..
With a F150, a F250, a F350, Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, Chevrolet/GMC 1500, 2500, 3500... its all the same. When you load them down fairly substantially (definition of "substantially" varies depending on which model you have), you take off O/D. It says in the manual.
You had problems with tranny shops in your area, yet you call them and ask for their advice, and then trust them!?!? Certified or whatever, that tranny shop you originally went to was supposed to be the best thing next to heaven on Earth (or so you described it originally), and look what it got you.
If someone is driving down the highway at 75 mph or more in a F150 or 1500 truck with a 1000+ lb load or greater in the back, they buy new trucks/trade in their old ones every couple years, as they don't take care of their stuff and it goes to crap.
I'm not here to rag on you. You do what you want, its your truck, its your transmission. I can guarantee you though, you might not notice it anytime soon, but towing that much with O/D on WILL hurt your transmission. I am 99.9% sure by looking at all the posts here in threads and general research online. And if 99% of the people here agreeing with me doesn't convince you, I don't know what to tell you.
Again, not raggin' on you, but some of the others do have a point. Yes, its called advice for a reason, you don't have to take it. And I know I've said this before, so sorry for beating a dead horse, but almost every time you do ask for advice, you ignore us and go with what your dad/brother/friend of a friend/certified transmission shop that screwed you/cousin's uncle's brother's dog told you to do. A lot of guys on here get frustrated because they see you ignore our advice 99% of the time, do what we advised against, and then come back complaining about how it didn't work out.
If you had gotten a "heavy duty" transmission as you were originally promised, you might be able to do what you are doing now with little to no ill effect. I don't know if I'd still advise it, but I wouldn't be worried about it as much. However, you have a STOCK transmission. One that has been proven to be weak in towing over and over and over again, especially when using O/D. And now, you're going to abuse it, like so many others have done. Several guys here posted "I was doing EXACTLY what you are planning to do and shortly thereafter I had to replace my tranny!" but not once have you seen someone come on here and say "I tow thousands of pounds at 75 mph all the time in O/D, have done so for years, and have had no issues!"
That should tell you something. If it doesn't, we can't help you, you've already made up your mind. Despite that, I'm not being sarcastic when I say that I do wish you luck with it, and have fun mobiling.

I'm not just going to sit here and take advice from those who continue to throw jabs at me from left to right everytime I make a thread. I could go through dozens of my threads where people throw in their own little disses throughout my posts; and it begins to really **** me me off. I have zero respect for at least 50% of this forum for the amount of mean and derrogative things they constantly throw towards me. If your going to attack me, or jab at my knowledge, your going to get one defensive and defiant forum member. Then of course the people that actually do help me out often and that I respect come onto my posts, they think I'm attacking them, and they wind up jumping on the anti-01dodgeram360 bandwagon. To me, if a transmission is a 3,000 rpms with overdrive off, it would seem like it probably doesn't need to have o/d off anymore. Generally when I tow, it's around town, and yes, I always take o/d OFF. But when your on the highway, you have plently of momentum for the truck to stay in one gear without any struggling. If the truck is going 65mph at 3,000 rpms, it's asking for an extra gear at that point. When your in the city hauling, you take o/d off because you don't want it shifting in and out of o/d with all of the stop and go traffic, that's abusive making it hunt for gears. When your on the highway, hunting for gears is no longer an issue. If the truck is moving right along having no problem staying in a gear and not struggling, I believe it is fine to leave it in o/d. Hell, if my truck does what my father's truck does, you can bet your butts I'll be taking o/d OFF. Depends on how my truck handles the load. And for christ sakes people, back off of me. You all know what your going to get from me, so stop pretending you don't know me. If you diss me, I'm going to get defiant.

I'm not sure you've ever started a thread in the Ram section that the answer wasn't easily found by searching. You ask for the input, and when forum members that have actually turned a wrench and had to fix the problems that you are having (or are about to have from your ridiculous ideas) give you advice, you ignore it and continue to pursue idiocy. You don't know what you are talking about, you only think you do. Go ahead and get defensive and defiant, you're as easy to turn off as a TV. In fact, it's already done.
To ignore a member, all you need to do is click on "UserCP" at the top bar of the page under the thread tree. Go down to the "Settings and Options" box on the left and click "Edit Ignore List" and type in the user's name and save. Everything they post will be blocked out and you don't have to deal with them anymore.

Neon, not sure where you get this idea that hunting for gears is the only thing thats abusive. O/D was designed for fuel mileage with little to no additional weight to the truck. You put over a thousand pounds behind you, thats more than a little additional weight.
Just driving in O/D with that much weight is hard on the transmission. Its not as bad as if you had 3.55 gears, but its still not good on it.
Its nothing to do with what you believe, "I believe it doesn't hurt..." Its a known fact that it DOES hurt the transmission. Ask any honest Dodge/Chrysler transmission expert, ask any guy on the forum here who's been here a little while, or ask anyone who's towed in O/D exactly like you are going to do. They all say the same thing!
I did overreact in the last big thread you had, where I thought you had told me to shut up. Thats mainly because I get so frustrated with you sometimes that I get on edge.
If you do this, do not complain to us about your transmission problems a year or two from now. Thats all I ask.
