Taking a Trip
True, but in my opinion dual open diff's pretty much suck. (Thats what I have.) It is crazy how much that limited slip helps.
With careful scheduling couldn't you do that in say Oct or Nov when the temp was a little more conducive to such work in a hot aluminum can?
The transmission has two years remaining on the warranty.
My point that people bag on me to be "hip" couldn't be more accurate. I write simple entries, and people just love to reply to them negatively (80+ replies in less than a day). It's easy to hate and discriminate. Human beings are naturally selfish; it takes hard work to be positive and genuine. I work with adults that have developmental disabilities, and all of them are selfish and always put themselves first (which is normal because they do not have the capacity to put forth the necessary energy to do for others).
I have called two seperate transmission shops (one of the men owns a 97 ram 1500 himself) about their opinions with overdrive on towing something down the highway. Both men said it is fine to leave o/d on when towing at highway speeds, but to remain mindful when it's chugging or approaching a big hill to pop it out before it begins hunting for gears.
And yes, I really do miss that lsd. I've been tossing and turning with what I would like to do with my tax returns. I had a shop quote me for $850 to buy and install a detroit true trac. However, I also would really like a new set of wheels to spice the truck up. It's going to be a tough choice.

Holy crap. People get "negative" to you because E V E R Y T I M E you ask for and receive advice from VERY professional and seasoned drivers, you spit on it! You have no common sense at all.
Go ahead, drive 75. Hell, drive 100. I don't care. Wreck that truck. I really, really, don't care anymore.

Oh yeah man!! "I really don't care anymore!" Like you have ever helped me out before? Like you have ever given a **** before? Get over yourself. I called two ATRA certified transmission shops, and both parties said driving on the highway with overdrive on with a load is completely fine. One obviously needs to use common sense when o/d should be disengaged. I'm not debating taking o/d; but I am debating that you HAVE to travel down the highway with o/d out. I'd love to count how many guys in trucks with loads are screaming down the highway at 3,000 rpms.
