I had a problem four days ago of engine cutoff. The problem was the cap and rotor. Now my truck did the same thing, cut off in the middle of the road. I had it towed (thanks AAA) and started troubleshooting. I have no spark and no trouble codes. Has this happened to anyone? Can anyone point me in the right direction. Thanx
Yeah, +1 for a cam or crank position sensor. If bad, either will not let the truck start at all. They are pretty inexpensive as well, so thats where I'd start.
this is true...but i mean, if his engine is cutting off sometimes going down the road...it might be his coil is in the stages of getting/going bad. just a thought
The problem is that It will not start at all. I checked the coil for resistance per the OEM Manual and it it good. If the CPS was bad, wouldn't it read a trouble code? If my PCM is bad will it give me a trouble code? I think that if the PCM (the brain) is bad it will not respond and therefore it will not give me any trouble codes. I recently replaced my CPS 20,000 miles ago when I OH my engine, but im going to replace it anyways and see where it takes me. Now im Shotgun Troubleshooting. Thanks everyone, will keep yall posted.
I was going to suggest the PCM, but didn't want to add any bad karma to your prob. Try replacing the coil first, it's cheap and you'll have an extra one for future trouble shooting.
I replaced the CPS and it started right up. I let it warm up and in less than a minute, she died. Now does not want to start. Im thinking it is the PCM. What do you think.
