I did this mod on my 2001 Ram and have not had any issues with it. Wiring it with an inline fuse is a good idea. I may redo mine just to have the safety valve there. Thanks for the idea.

oren, if you want a lot of light then you could look into what i'm thinking about doing. i'm still not sure if i'm going to but i'm thinking about putting relays inline for my headlights like jasonw has (he has a diy in the diy section about how to do it) and i'm going to hook up 2 of my off road lights to each high beam relay so when i hit the switch for high beams i will have the high beams and the off road lights cut on along with the fog lights still being on due to the jumper wire.

why are you taking your time? h3 bulbs are only 7$.

Really? Last time I bought some they were $20 at Wal-Mart. But hell, I'm 80 miles from the closest Wal-Mart. Only place to get them is NAPA. Or online.

when i was checking out fog lights the other day i was trying to find out the difference between the h1 and the h3 bulbs so i looked at the packages for both and they were only 7$ each at advance. i have h1 bulbs in my off road lights and they seem quite a bit brighter than then oem fogs so i think h1 is better but i believe all the aftermarket fog lights have a h3 in them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the driving (fog) lights on these trucks a sealed beam and not a replaceable bulb in a housing type light?

The previous owner removed the stock fogs and replaced them with the $20 set from Wal-Mart. Kinda funny that two new bulbs costs twice as much as a new set of lights...
