OK.. I got new bulbs today. Installed and wired them. They work fine.
I decided to try the mod. Well, my 97 has two relays for for lights.

I replaced both of them with jumper wires. The lights turned on, and stayed on, despite high beam switch, and even the fog light switch itself.
I figured out that when the second relay (the one with a wire in its place in this pic: ) must be for the foglight power, and the upper one for the highbeam cutoff.
When I take out either one, they turn off. But, with the highbeams on, I can make the foglights turn on by barely inserting the top relay.
Do I need to jump different pins.. or is this mod even possible with how these lights are wired?
I'm going to try to dig up a wiring diagram on AllData and I'll post it if I find it.

i'm not sure but an alldata wiring diagram would help.
do the lights stay on with the high beams when the top relay is inserted all the way or just when it is barely inserted (which is bad because it will arc and could fry the relay or a fuse if the lights are on when you take it in/out)?
you have the wire in place of the correct pins. you are jumping the 30/87 pins with the wire, which is an open circuit until the 85/86 pins recieve power.
have you tried putting a jumper wire in each one?
i have an idea, buy a 2000 model and then the mod will work for ya.

I put a wire in both of them, but it doesn't matter when there is a wire in the lower one. If there is one in the lower relay socket, the foglights are on no matter what.
Here ya go:

I'm not exactly sure how to read schematics, but if my mom has time, I'll get her to look over it- she used to be an electrical engineer.

i looks like they should stay on with the high beams with the jumper in place of relay #1 and relay #2 plugged in.

Nope.
I just tried that.
And I noticed that on the top relay, there is no connector in the right side large socket....

Yeah.. oh well.
I showed the schematics to my mom and she's not really sure. She used to build power supplies, so car wiring is quite different.
I'm just going to get some lights like yours, Sheriff, and wire them into the highbeam circuit. How would I do that, though?

with a 4 post 40A relay.
read this thread, it has a really good wire diagram and in the process you will learn how to connect a relay properly.
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...-write-up.html

following the wire diagram you will want to connect your hot wire on the new lights up with the hot wire for the highbeams and ground the other wire on them.
one thing that really comes in handy is the brush on liquid electric tape, it ensures a water tight seal on all connections.
