Angry 96 Dodge Ram running poorly!!

Most of the time it runs perfect, but every so often it starts missing like crazy. I can bairly get it in the driveway. I have replaced plugs, plug wires, cap, button, and coil. I even tried a different ecu.

I have popped the hood at night but i can't see anything arking.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated...

Thanks,
Lefty

Is there any way to test this? I was also told it might be the crank position sensor. Any ideas????

Sounds like the fuel pump.

These trucks don't have a MAF sensor, only a MAP sensor. See the Glossary Sticky if you don't know the difference.

To the OP, almost everyone coming in here has a problem. Please use more descriptive thread titles.

How about a fuel filter? could that be the cause. I have looked under the truck but can't locate it.

I was thinking crank position sencer because when it starts missing it sounds very much like it's out of time.

The fuel filter is part of the fuel pump assembly.

Can I buy a fuel pump assembly at a parts store or is it a dealer only item?

CAT had been gutted for years. Its diffinately a misfire. I start getting codes, cylinder 1 misfire, cylinder 6 misfire, cylinder 8 misfire, cylinder 2 misfire. Then all of the sudden it just straitens up and runs good for a while. When it starts acting up it is diffinately like it is out of time. It will pop through the throttle body.

I guess i'm going to replace the crank position sencor first and it that doesn't do it i'll move on to the fuel pump.
