97 ram, 5 speed wont shift into gears?

Default 97 ram, 5 speed wont shift into gears?

I just bought it yesterday, shifted fine but when i drove it for a few hours, i couldnt get into first, only 3rd and up. only when i was rolling a little... when truck is off, it shifts fine please help

thanks for the reply! would it be that, even if in the morning it drives fine, i just drove it around the block and it works fine?! but i know it wont stay that way

more than likely no unless they r in the process of going out, witch in that case they should grind just a lil going in to gear

no grinding at all, you think maybe the slave? i have been reading that bleeding it might work, but i dont know how, i know nothing about rams so far. thank you so much!

maybe low on fluid?

if it aint grinding than i would say it prolly aint ur synchronizers, how ever try shifting it with out the clutch. if it shifts good with out the clutch i would say it needs some adjusting. the clutch mybe getting hot and not engaging properly.

fluid is the first thing you should check

thank you for helping, ill try it tomorrow, might take it to a shop, i just bought it so dont want to spend money on it.

i hear u thare. dodge 1500 trannys are bad about having problems. i haven't every herd any real problems with their manuals but the auto's are legendary for going out

Well thanks, ill take it to a shop tomorrow and try what you said, just drove it again, and it was fine, you know where i can check the slave?
