Default Need some transmission help, guys

I changed the trans fluid on my '98 2500 w/360 magnum and decided to adjust the bands while I was at it. I torqued front adjuster to 72 inch lbs., then backed off 2 7/8 turns. Same with rear adjuster, but backed off 2 turns. Now, I'll be going down the road, brake to make a turn and when I get back on the throttle the engine raps up then the trans slams into gear. What did I do wrong? It wasn't doing this before the adjustment. Any help you gents could give me would sure be appreciated, I'm in dire straights.

No, not all gears, just when I would slow down from say 40mph to 5 or 10mph then give it gas. It's a 46re(At least thats what I read came with the 360 V8 2500) I just dumped the pan and added 4.5 Qts. The truck has 140,000 miles on it. The thing that bothers me is it wasn't doing this before the band adjustment. I also put a distriutor cap, rotor and wires on, is there any vaccuum lines back there I may have broke or knocked loose? Thanks Matty.

looking at your throttle lever there is a cable attatched to it that heads back under the fire wall and eventually to the trans. pull the throttle lever by hand... does that cable move with the throttle lever with no delay whatsoever? also trace that cable down to the trans and locate the shift lever that it is attatched to, does the lever spring all the way back when you push it towards the rear of the truck? how did your old fluid look? are you sure your fluid level is in the ok? reliable torque wrench?

I could be wrong here, but I think the turns are the other way around. 2 for the front and 2 7/8 for the back.
