a/c coming out of dash vents- worse after tps replacement
a few days ago i posted a thread regarding to fluctuating idle, jason steered me in the direction of a bad tps and a replacement did the trick (thanks jason). b4 i replaced the tps the a/c would revert to the dash vents only when u wer going like 45 in o/d and u hit the gas (not enuff to down shift it) just enuff to get to 55 quickly. now that i replaced the tps it does it on accel if u get past like 1900 rpms and when your goin 35 at like 1500 rpm it does it continously. basically its much worse than it was b4 and the vaccum leak needs to be fixed. but y wuld changing the tps cause this? i have already eliminated the cruise control unit from the vaccum circuit. where r the most probable places for the leak and what is the easiest way to find a leak? i hav a vac gauge if that helps any?? thanks in advance
your new TPS might be holding a higher or lower gear and associated rpm's. replace check valves in vac lines on passenger side between intake and firewall. about the size of a quarter and not very thick, maybe 1/2 inch.
a vac gauge doesn't help very much. a vac pump is better. i've never used a smoke tester, nor have any idea how much one costs - but its a cool tool....

Ok, I just added a Smoke Wizard to my list of needed(read:wanted) tools, right underneath the Durafix aluminum welding rods
No prices though on thier site, they are 'TOO LOW TO PUBLISH!' lol
probably in the several hundreds range
EDIT: found this with another quick search http://www.devildogtools.com/glledeglsmwi.html
all for the low low promo price of $1095! and it comes in 6 colours! looks like my newest addition to my list has gone 'up in smoke'

the smoke machines are just too expensive for the casual shade tree garage.
here's a more simple one from OTC, but still $700.
it would require a number of uses to ever pay for itself, but you got to admit - its pretty cool.

i did a quick search on building your own, but came up empty.
you'd have to solve a lot of problems such as temperature control, pressure control, no sensor damage, no charcoal canister contamination, etc...

check valve? could you elaborate on its location? by right do you mean passenger side? or my right?
