There was a thread a while back on here where the majority of us in the DF community concluded that using epoxy doesn't do anything worth while.

I don't have to try jumping off a cliff to know that I will die when I hit the bottom. I don't have to install a performance coil to know that I won't notice a difference on a stock truck. Etc.

Filling the plenum with epoxy does nothing. The "idea" behind was for better air flow. Ok, how does filling that void provide for better air flow? Are the guys filling their manifolds doing any studies on fluid dynamics? Do they understand turbulent flow? Do they have any idea why it would be, that for every other long tube runner intake manifold, the aftermarket industry uses a LARGER plenum on their manifolds? (GM TPI)

Until someone comes along with dyno numbers (and not the butt dyno) and shows me evidence that randomly filling in holes gives better performance, that is a mod that I can NOT, in all good conscience, recommend.

restricting the area that the air has to flow, is not going to give you any gains.

I believe that there are people on ********* that have filled in with epoxy and seen results. Hughes stage 2 also if filled with epoxy. Seems like it is ok to attempt this but is a lot more work.

http://www.*********.com/forums/showthread.php?t=244437

there is a link for a guy who did it.

If you read the thread, he was fixing a blown plenum, and did other work to the truck as well. Most notably, a larger throttle body.... He is also basing his 'facts' on his butt dyno. A notoriously inaccurate instrument.

Show me where someone takes a manifold off of a good running truck, does this mods, and THEN sees results. (dyno results. REAL dyno results.)

I think it is a pretty sure bet, you are not going to find anything like that.

If the epoxy allows for more velocity without limiting flow it would be good.

Problem is without flow bench, lab full of geeks and computers, and/or dyno tests, I think, most everybody who doesn't live and breathe this stuff everyday for a living or something just wont have a feel for it and is probably just making wild as guesses about the effects of any more subtle mods like this one.
