I just lifted my truck 5 inches and it sadi i could fit 35 inch x 12.5 inch tires on my truck with a 4.5 inch back spacing. If i do that will the tires rub if i am off road or turnning?
you dont gotta get 4.5" of backspacing, i got 4" backspacing on my new rims and im gettin 35s on them, and i dont expect to be rubbin at all. thats the point of the lift is to clear them so they dont rub.
Backspacing is so the tires dont hit the control arms on these trucks. Stock is 5 inches, less backspacing moves the tire out further from the axle, so larger tires won't hit the control arms. What hits, and what fits, varies dramatically from truck to truck. You should be ok.....
Ok and another question, where is the best place to find good wheels and tires? And what brand and style tire do you guys prefer? Im goin to use it mostly on the street and also off road in sometimes thick mud.
try www.summitracing.com thats where i got my rims for 300 shipped. but you can spend a little more and get something nicer, just depends on what you want. or try www.4wheelparts.com they have some deals going on.
Ive got 35/12.50/15 BFG M/T on my stock 2001 ram 1500. only non stock thing is the 2500 diesel springs i put in. only rubbing i have is on my running boards and its only at full lock to lock in the steering. running boards are coming off today.
See i heard you cant put the 15in wheel on the 2001 4x4 because of the dual piston brakes that came on those models. If anybody can correct me please do. I dont want to buy 16in wheels if i can fit 15in.
