.

So I see $347 for the cam, add another $150 for new lifters, then add new springs, new locks, pushrods and retainers. Putting a cam in these truck the right way is not cheap; But well worth every penny and cut. I don't have to guess on the total cost; figure a G note (with rr"s) if you do the work yourself.

So heres a way for you to figure out your lift with 1.7 rockers

Take the lift of your cam divide it by 1.6 example .587 (Lift) / 1.6 (rocker) = .366875

Now take
.366875 x 1.7 = .623 <---thats the new lift..... so you go from .587 lift to .623 lift.

Roller motor or not New cam= new lifters its a must/smart thing to do. Why would you spend $340 on a new cam and not put in new lifters? That makes no sense.

What I said was expect to spent a $1000 to put in a cam with all the right matching parts.

Yes I have the Mopar Adjustables on my motor, Do they make a diff yes, a big diff no. Maybe 14hp some say more some less. Only a slight change in motor sound. I am in no means trying to talk you out of the cam I think you should do it. All I am saying is a cam change needs the right accompanying parts. And you need to know that by going to a 1.7 rocker your cam choice will be limited to what cam you can use. Thats were that little math figure I posted will help you.

A roller lifter can be reused. The only reason to swap them is if you suspect damage or its a very high mileage motor. They don't wear patterns like a flat tappet cam lifter does. The lifters dodge users are significantly wider on the roller than a ford or Chevy. They tend to track better and last longer due to this, and the extra surface area lends to using more aggressive ramp profiles on the camshaft.

Not yet. Just finished kegger mod and timing work last weekend, cleaned up tools in garage Monday, and just tinkered yesterday. I get too many things going on at one time. That shiny object thing.....

Going to do the dash next before I damage the new dash moving it around the garage. HS Rockers should be up next on the list. Wife wanting me to put some effort into the old Jaguar (so she can drive it) "when I get to a stopping point" on the Ram. And gransone wants me to start working on the VW Super Beetle (so HE can drive it - he's only 10 now! That boy's looking ahead!)
