And btw! Those dust covers you are getting are just that, DUST covers. They will NOT keep water out.

^damn. that's a long list.

if you're really committed to the dust seals, here's a link

http://completeoffroad.com/i-123137-...yspbf-016.html

http://www.riversidegear.com/categor...oduct-719.html

someone found a much heavier, better one, but i've lost it.
i call them mud traps and refuse to use them. i'd just as soon wash my open tubes out with the water hose, or drive through clean water as a "rinse".

rags taped to broom handle may not work well. my tubes were a SOLID sludgy mix of dirt, oil, mud, oil, sand, oil, leaves, oil, sticks, and even chunks of wood. wtf.

i used a hooked rod to scrape the tube, end to end to dislodge the muck, then scraped it out, then poured gas in the ends, then sprayed brake cleaner throughout. it took awhile. sheriff made a tool that fit the inner diameter of the axle, but only about 1/3 height and used it as a scraper. very clever. he also came up with the idea of using a come-along to nudge the front diff out of the case, which is a damn tight fit.

ive taken the carrier out twice before.

Zman, i flushed the front diff, after my water encounters....theres not even 3K on the fluid.

also i was told it could also be the vacuum switch on the transfer case, that allows the air flow....he said it could have pressure going through, and to see if theres vacuum at the CAD while running in 2wd.

no. water is not entering the vac lines or t-case and making its way into the diff.

axle seals and/or axle vent hose are the leakers.

ok did a small amount today...i didnt tear it apart, instead i checked out the vacuum for the 4x4....

i took off the two small rubber lines that go to the CAD, now my question is, Is it supposed to have vacuum while in 2wd? on the line thats closer to passenger side, i had vacuum that would suck my finger right to the line...good amount of vacuum....now could this be my problem? i found the transfer case switch, and a new one is 15 bucks, so if there isnt supposed to be vacuum then this is my problem....

you should have full engine vac on one line in 2wd and the other line in 4wd.
