With the bigger motor...... which is going to tempt you to irresponsible gas-pedal mashing...... yes, you are going to smoke some parts. if you don't have the T-case saver yet, get it. Change the fluids in your diffs, make sure every thing is up to snuff, and see if you can't resist the sweet sound that 408 cubes make when you step on the loud pedal.

And start saving your pennies for the trans rebuild you are going to induce.

Don't forget to include the cost of a custom tune in your build.

Get the specs of the came they put in there too. Compression ratio, etc.

haha hell man im excited if all goes as planned. im going to look at it tomorrow as well as talk to the machine shop that built it. 408 cubes of fresh power will be refreshing when compared to the ol' oil burning gutless pig thats in there now.

id like to think i wont get on it too hard... atleast not until the rest of the trucks up for it

as soon as i get the motor straight im going to start saving for the max evil...

Sounds like a plan. When you go to look, have the cash in your pocket. (but, not all of it in the same pocket......) Offer him 1000 bucks for it, and SHOW HIM THE MONEY. If he seems hesitant....... depending on how hesitant, add another franklin to the pile.....

ok heres what i found:

it was built in '05, comes with an m1 intake, ford performance injectors, ported tb, headers, ignition, water pump and oil pan.

he said he was asking 18 but would go as low as 15.

it was a little rough cranking by hand and that worried me so i called the guy who built it at Abacus racing and he said rust on the cylinder walls is possible but hed bet that the assembly lube has just worn off and if i spray some wd-40 thru the plug holes it should turn just fine. he said he could tear it down, re hone, clean and assemble for 700 so either way id come out on top since i dont have to buy a $600 air gap

thoughts?
