Wouldn't it be GREAT if the manufacturer/fabricator/sales department selling this product could make available INSTRUCTIONS for installation for those who were interested in the steps involved?????? Wouldn't it be GREAT if the company made instructions available to potential buyers instead of referring to customers' photos and input as a guide to their product????? All of the other after market components I have put on my truck had INSTRUCTIONS available for viewing before committing to purchase item. I think this is a good and fair business practice and not much to ask for. Sixty dollars is a lot of money for a small chunk of rubber so I would think that making an installation manual available to potential customers is the least RockSolidSteering can do.

I have seen the YouTube vid and didn't find it very informative.

Remove steering shaft,
Remove retainer,
Remove spring,
Remove bearing assembly,
Install rocksolid bushing,
Install retainer,
Install steering shaft,
Enjoy better steering.

Its not hard to do, just not alot of room to do it.

Thank you very much kejobe, I appreciate your reply and help but I still think that RockSolidSteering could make a small effort to support their own product.
Cheers!

It really isn't that difficult. And it's not something with a ton of instruction to do it. Its three basic steps. Remove old hardware, install bushing, install retainer. That's it. The photos show what needs to be removed. The installed parts are two pieces. It would be nice to see instructions, I agree, but I've seen plenty of products more than $60 that don't provide any beforehand either. Email him, im sure he'll send you some.

Hello,

I ran into a little problem installing this fix. After the bushing was installed and everything bolted up the column shifter moves and shifts whenever i turn the steering wheel while backing up and turn around. It doesn't do this on the road when turning or anything. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You didn't sand the column enough to make it slide easy like the direction say(or you put the clip/clamp on too tight). Give it a while and it may break in a little. If not, call the owner and he'll send you a new clip or whatever it's called, so you can sand and loosen it up some more. He's a nice guy and I had the same prob when I installed mine on my 98. He sent me one for nothing.

Ok cool, i did sand it a little bit before I installed it but obviously not enough. It was too tight sliding into the column so I thought itd be fine. Thanks for the help.

You did leave a 1/8" gap between the bushing and retainer, right?

Thank you, David Alan,

I've just finished ordering this kit and you should see my order from Maine soon.
I hope this works.
I don't actually have a "clunk" nor play when I turn my sterring wheel but the truck is all over the road at almost all speeds. I've disconnected my tie rods and slowly turned the wheel lock to lock several time to locate any play. There is absolutely none. Furhtermore, I've carefully checked both tie rod ends before re-attachin them. Those too, were tight with no play. I wiggled the tires and rotated the rotors to see if I could observe any binding - none.

I purchased this truck with a newly replaced box and everything feels tight. This truck just does not want to steer straight. The sterring also does not want to "return" and instead wants to take off steering even harder in the direction I've turned the wheel the symptom is in both directions evenly.

Well, anyway, let's see what happnes when I install your kit in a few weeks.
