I honestly don't know where an Ambient Temperature Sensor is, but my overhead display is showing the whackiest temperatures. So I looked aroung and figured out that this is most likely the cause, and I'd like to replace it tomorrow when I replace my headlight switch too.
Its attached to the hood with a bracket that holds it right in front of the grill. When you Pop the hood, turn around and look straight up under the grill, you'll see it there.
Do you guys know where the wiring starts for the sensor? My overhead console always reads OC which I found means open circuit. However when I went through a car wash it starting showing temps. The sensor is not on the hood, and from what I can tell the hood is not the original hood for the truck, it has a tag on it and the VIN doesn't match. So what I am thinking is the sensor is dangling somewhere, or at least the wiring for it, and when it got wet that shorted the wires so it started showing a temperature. So I was hoping to find where it starts from so I could try to follow it and figure out where it goes and if the sensor is even there or what. Thanks for any help.
I'm just wondering where it starts from, I would think I could find some empty connectors somewhere where the light and temp sensor would plug into it, but I can't find that either.
If you can find one in the junkyard, you can follow the harness to where it plugs in. Should be the same across the 2nd gens that used the system. Sometimes, that is the ONLY way I have been able to figger out where things go.
