Default Engine or Tranny pull

For Christmas my truck decided I hadn't paid it enough attention so the throughout bearing went out. I now find my self in a struggle between pulling the engine forward and replacing the motor mounts while I'm at it or pulling the drive line the transfer case and the tranny.

I have a cherry picker but no transmission jack and I'm leaning toward using an intake plate adapter to support the engine and just pulling the radiator to pull the engine forward and replace the bearing but I have never used this type of adapter to hook my cherry picker up before.

Any way let me know what you guy's think please.

Thanks Man that's what I was worried about. Well that and the fact that I still wonder if I'm crazy to pull an engine rather then the tranny LOL.

Why not just rent a tranny jack. There only around $30 a day.

I don't live in CA anymore so it's going to be 20-30 degrees and I don't feel like laying on the ground that damn long. All the damn linkage and vacuum lines laying underneath the truck I'd rather just work from above as much as possible plus I get to change my engine mounts while I'm at it.

im just backin up the kegger part.....its not a solid piece of the truck.....when i removed my manifold to put my new one on, i used a RUBBER mallet to knock it free, and it broke a hole in it.....so that can tell you how weak they are....

I would personally lie on the ground. A manual tranny is easy. Compared to pulling the motor. And good luck getting it lined back up correct.(clutch alignment tool). You'll still be on the ground doing the bell housing bolts, which will be alot easier without the tranny in the way.

I haven't pulled the engine from one of these, haven't even thought about it enough to go looking at what's required... but in the past, when given the choice I'd lift the engine every time rather than drop the transmission. It's usually easier and safer, and not so miserable when it's cold out.

If you go that route, please report back how painful or painless it was.
