Default As far as injectors go:

I have been helping a friend work on his 1994 dodge ram 1500 5.2l, then truck has 2 bad injectors and he plans on just replacing them all with a set of accel injectors through huges. We are wondering if he can go up from the stock size injector of 18.2 lb/hr to a 21 lb/hr seeing as in '96-'01 the 5.2l came from the factory with 23.2 lb/hr injectors.

injectors are a supporting mod, so unless youve got some extra air flow, you wont notice any difference from higher flowing injectors.

replace the 2 injectors and save some $

The 94/95 ram 5.9 injectors ran 24lb injectors. Hit up a junkyard.

Will that be ok to do? will the computer compensate for the differance in the injector size.

injectors are a very deep subject...

24lbs injectors yes, but 24# @ 49psi... most injectors are rated at standard 43.5psi, which means buying 24# injectors will net you ~26# injectors which is FAR too rich for these engines..

you'll be looking for injectors from 19-22.5#.. but, this is just the tip of that conversation.. there is a LOT of things to consider with injectors..

DO NOT buy those accels.. they SUCK hugely.. They're all over the board in performance from what I'm told..

I just bought some 22# 4-hole's which I plan on installing this weekend.. that is about as high as you want to go with 'replacement' injectors.. I'll have the 'red' (22.5# single hole) I'm pulling out, which work fine.. If you're interested I can make a deal for you with them.... do yourself a favor and DO NOT get those accels though.

If you don't tell the computer you changed the injector size, you are going to get some interesting behavior, especially in open loop. Only way to do that, would be to get a custom chip for your truck. (read that: Expensive....)

I have used RC Engineering and Marren to rebuild injectors on other cars and would highly recommend either if you are going to have them serviced as opposed to just replacing.

Drew hit it on the head. If you get 24# injectors, you will be running at 25.5 PSI in our trucks. I HAVE 24# injectors. I hooked up a wideband O2 sensor and found out I was running 10:1 Air fuel ratio (10 is as low as the gauge goes). I had Hemifever trim the fuel with the SCT he sold me. Then the truck ran at 10 STILL. He trimmed it again. Now I am at 11.9 and it has A LOT MORE POWER. I actually noticed a LOSS in the low and mid power with the 24s on the stock computer. ANd I have a 52mm throttle body, MSD ignition, and open element air filter. So with the extra airflow, it was STILL RICH Now it is pretty darn good. But I needed a CUSTOM TUNE.

THe only reason I have 24#s is because they are FMS 4 hole designs. Stock injectors are 1 hole.

The only hing that would be an upgrade for you would be to find the same lb/hr but with 4 holes.

Here is a good thread about injectors that I made for some information:
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...ur-trucks.html
^^ you will see, in the video how crappy the lucas/accel injectors are

there is a good video about injector flow in there. Lots of information.

If you get the NEW 24# disc 4 hole Bosch design III injectors, you WILL need to get a wideband AF gauge and get a custom tune based on the reading. So be prepared to spend:
250 for the injectors
375 for the tuner and custom tuning from hemifever
180 for the wideband AF gauge, plus 25 to get the bung welded to your pipe.

All for a very little gain. Unless you have bigger displacement heads/cam and BOOST, you really don't need BIGGER injectors.

Just look for injectors with more than one hole. YOu would need EV1 style injectors (EV1 is the connector)

WHOA!!! just noticed that your friend has a 1994 truck. You cannot use a tuner for that truck. So you will need to get a custom chip.

That means:
1. 500 dollars for the chip, 180 for a wideband AFR gauge
2. Drive the car on open highway with the new injectors when you floor it in 1st gear(Just remember the number)
2. You need to send your chip (PCM) to B&G performance to get reflashed...probably multiple times until your AFR is between 11.9 and 12.5 at WOT

So his truck will not be able to be driven for WEEKS until the flash is done right.
