same here... Thought crosses my mind ever day in fact. I just can't see selling mine at this point because I know all of the time I have put into this one between maintenance and mods. There is the bond, and also I know this one is reliable. Expecially since the trans was rebuilt 3.5yrs ago and only has 36k on it (pulled the warranty paper out the other day for fun). From a reliability standpoint, this truck is worth way more to me than any number kbb comes up with imho.

I notice that we DON'T see a lot of folks with 47/48 RH/E trannies on here with complaints....... If I could find a diesel 2500 ex-cab short bed 4x4 with an auto, I would be all over it..... Driving a manual trans is a bit tricky for me...... (health issues.)

Nah, they should just make the damn bean counters drive the engineering nightmares that their mere presence on the face of the earth contributes to. Engineers to. And for them, they should make the WORK ON the things they design after it has been on the road for 10 to 15 years.. I think automotive design philosophy would take a dramatic shift.

Thats because we dont have many people on this forum with V10s or Cummins trucks. Granted, there are plenty of Cummins guys here, but they dont roam the 2nd gen section that much.

My pipe dream is a 2002 2500 Cummins Quad/Short Sport 4x4 with a NV5600 6-speed in Amber Fire orange. Yeah....

well guys, i went and put a serpentine belt on my truck ( blew teh belt yesterday morning on the way to work) so after work i went to drive the truck home... and blew the motor, seized it up so bad i cant crank it over... i put a long azz braker bar and socket on the crank, cant turn it a smidge....

so i have two options right now.

buy this guys 5.9 ( has injectors, balancer, all the stuff to make it run in my truck.. finding out about the torque converter, cause my grandfather said i have to have that) for 150 bucks and buy the 230 sct tuner so $380

or buy this other guys 5.2 for $400 bucks..

ok, so i looked it up.. the torque converters are differant.. in some way i dont know how...

the part number for the 5.9 is one choice of a 787L
the part number of a 5.2 is 546 for non lock up, and a 792LU for lock up version...

so i need to get a torque converter for the motor..
