Oil Pressure at idle
#11
welll...... worked great on the way to work, but on the way home it did it again.... but not everytime i stopped, just some. so ima say screw it and go get a new oil pressure switch, and try that, and also look under the valve cover to see if there is any sludge in there, and hopefully that will tell me if there is any lower in the block and pan. if that dont fix it then ill go all the way and drop the pan and clean the pump, filter, pickup and try it again... thanks for the helps guys.

got the same exact problem dude...had the sender changed, twice, still did it. Took it back, the shop finally put a manual gauge on it, told me that at idle my motor had less oil pressure than normal so it would trip the switch...of course they did then tell me my motor was pooched and tried to sell me a hi-per motor...or I could just put heavier oil in it and sell it! Since I love the hell out of my truck, I decided to try that, cuz the cost of a new motor was way out of my league at the time (still is!) In summer, I run 15w40 and some Lucas, I find if I run 10w30 in the summer heat, it gets thin and ends up tripping that "check gauges" lite all the time. That was 2 years ago, with approx. 220 kms and it's still super strong, for a 318. I have an aftermarket gauge to throw in, and was hoping to completely disconnect that gauge in the cluster, but if you just disconnect the sender, it'll act like a "faulty" sender and trip that lite/chime...have an idea but not sure yet...if it works out, I'll let you know...

well i got the flush done, oil drained, pan dropped, and pump out. meanwhile it started pouring down rain on me, so the install is waiting till later, tomorrow prob. if it will stop raining long enough for me to throw the new stuff in.
Good news though, after i got the pan off and all, i didnt one bit of buildup or sludge anywhere. everything looked awesome, nice and shiny pistons and all So cross your fingers for the install tomorrow and hopefully ill have awesome pressure and problem will be fixed. Thanks for the ideas and help guys.
If this dont fix it ill prob. be back askin what to do next on it.

ok so there was a break in weather, and i went and threw it all in, went for a drive, had the normal 60-70psi when cold, and when i was cruisin with it warm it was at 40, but as soon as i started slowin down it dropped back to 30 and once stopped, ding ding check you mother ****in gages light! i guess i am gonna have to get a mechanical gauge of some kind, and try that, and see if its just the dash gauge. its got a new oil pressure switch, new pump, new pickup/screen, new oil, new filter, so i mean the only thing it could be is the damn dash gauge ****in up, i originally though it was the dash but i dunno.. my journey continues....
