ok got the mechanical gauge installed and at warm idle its pullin about 15-20psi, have yet to drive it but i did idle it up a little maybe 2k or so and it got up around 40psi, so you think im good? remember its oem stuff, not high volume. and i was able to ground out the original electrical connection, no light on dash, but my dash gauge does read that its pegged out aha. thanks for all the help guys.

Yeah, should be cool. So long as it stays over 10 at idle. When you start getting below that, or even close to it..... time to look at another solution.

I was told by a shop that the pressure switch trips at about 7psi at idle...they showed me some numbers from a website called alldata.com (i think)...I was gonna do the same thing, grounding out the gauge at the cluster, but wasn't sure how it would turn out. I asked a Mopar tech who told me if I just unplugged it, it would trip the lite/chime, so he suggested grounding it out after I installed the aftermarket gauge...I think if you take the clear plastic cover off the instrument cluster you can pop the needle off the gauge...I also run thicker oil in summer...works for me, anyways

On my truck with the factory sensor unplugged dash gauge just reads 0 and no buzzer or warning light.

Factory minimum spec is 7 at curb idle (neutral, operating temp) and 30 at 3000rpm.

You are going to munch up your motor that way though... oil pumps are less than 50 bucks for a high volume unit, and will basically make your bottom end last forever...... its the heads that become the problem.

It can munch away. When it blows Im buying a new truck and parting this one. The motor rattles, has no oil pressure, tranny has black in the fluid, t-case leaks, body is rusting away (big holes in doors) ect. I want a new truck but this thing just won't die, doesn't burn a drop of oil either, its weird.

A HV oil pump needs a hardened drive shaft and I don't feel like putting a HV pump or drive shaft in. I'm tired of working on this thing.

ok so i have new numbers after driving to work, at a fulllllllllll warm idle its pullin right at 7psi and then it will follow the rpms exactly pretty much, 2k rpms im pullin 20psi same with 3k rpms im pullin 30psi, so im good then? runs perfect. no ticking,knockin,nothin.let me know thanks.

Well, for certain values of 'good'..... Sure, you are making minimum spec, but, that's with fresh oil too isn't it? As the oil ages, and breaks down, pressure is going to drop off too......

If it were me...... I would order up a high volume pump, and when it show up, put it in.

so if i put a high voume pump in, do i have to change the shaft? or will that one still work? and with it pushin 25% more thats going to raise my pressure?
