I will do that, I've have been all along..helps to elimate stupid mistakes, cuts, scrapes and excessive foul language. But that always seems to be the most prevalent. I'm really hoping I can get the (IM) up and over that last bolt (front passenger side #12)

 

I have a habit of using a BFH...but this is not an appropriate place or time. Just lift straight up. May have to wiggle some....break seal of gasket surfaces. it'll lift off once it is broken loose and lifting straight.

 

Yeah I tried, the back moved but the front isn't..The gaskets are acting like glue...I don't want to do any prying, so we'll see in the AM..Thank you for the advice! BFH?

That's REALLY what I want to use right about now...#'s 11 & 12 are still stuck and won't move. The IM gaskets are blown out in those two areas. I can get the back to lift up a little but the front just doesn't wanna budge. I don't know what to do. Don't want to hammer it or pry it so I'm at a loss. I even put latters on either side of the truck with a 2x6 (on its side) across the engine and tried to strap/ratchet it up and nothing...

 

So the IM is still stuck on the engine correct? The broken bolt(s) have welded them selves to the IM(different metals and major corrosion) . You have to use more force and wiggling.

And better penetrating oil and heat may be the only option.

 

Exactly! But I did get the IM off yesterday evening. And the broken, welded like pieces out of the IM today. As for the remaining bolt pieces they look like the bolts are sticking out of a volcano of JB weld. Used vice grips (no bite), drilled away at the volcano, sprayed it..these two bolts are killing me..and what should be a rather simple job????

 

Glad you got it pulled off! The bolts can be a PITA to get out. Patience and chemicals......and more chemicals....

 

Thanks, me too..I've been carefully drilling the 'volcano', utilizing chemicals as well as patience for sure! Plenum gasket was only blown out in one area..approx 1-2 inches. Ironically it was the IM gaskets that were jacked without any leaking. I've been taking pics all along. Hopefully they'll be self explanatory...and useful to others on here. Happy 4th!!

 

OK question, is there supposed to be a gap there? One side is about 1/4 in. and the other side has a smaller gap and it's not the entire length..(the cardboard is in the valley).the other picture is of one of the 'welded' bolts, notice to the right is how the normal bolt 'cavity' should like. Also I had already worked on the mound around the bolt before the pic so it WAS, worse The pics are in album #1 and next posts..
