well, its too late for that plate in the valley. IM is already on lol i couldn't wait any longer haha!

those two coolant sensors might screw me over. if anyone knows anything about them, if i can just jump the sensor or if i'm gonna have to drill and tap another hole (something i do NOT want to do at all) then please let me know lol. thanks!

 

Besides what I already said in the last post, you sure don't want to drill the IM with the pan on not to mention attached to the CH's..hope I'm not pointing out the obvious

 

the second sensor i'm missing is a coolant sensor. so it wouldn't actually be in the plenum part of the intake. however i would still get shavings and stuff...i'm not drilling anything. i'm putting everything back together now, get on my knees, pray, and hope for the best. lmao!

 

There is a procedure for torquing both the plenum plate, and the intake manifold to the proper specs. Both are detailed in the service manual that you can download for free from the faq section. If you don't have it, get it.

97 and older trucks have two coolant temp sensors. The single wire sensor is for the gauge in the dash. If your manifold doesn't have a provision for it, its just pipe thread... and I think the boss that it goes in is actually still there... take it to a machine shop to have it drilled and tapped.

 

we're not talking about the plenum plate or IM torques...theres a bracket IN the lifter valley. has 3 bolts attaching it to the engine. we were wondering what that was and if it was ok to take off and clean under it. but its too late now for me lol. and as far as the coolant sensors go...i need to figure out if i can jump that 2 prong sensor and be ok, cuz i really hadn't planned on drilling and tapping anything, and there is no boss for it.

 

actually, what i've done so far is put the 2 prong sensor in the manifold. that way the engine will at least run somewhat like its suppose to. i'll have to put a temp sensor somewhere else, like in a hose. i planned on putting e-fans in eventually anyway, so this might be a good reason to cut open a hose for sensors lol. does anyone know of any hose fittings i can use for the sensors?

 

The bracket IN the valley? Oh, that one holds stuff down so the roller lifters maintain their orientation.

You cannot simply jumper the two wire sensor, that's the one the PCM uses to control fuel mixture....... Gonna have to come up with a different solution.

 

i've already come up with the solution lol. i've put the two wire sensor in the IM. i'm gonna have to put the in-cab temp sensor in a hose somewhere. any suggestions as far as where and where i can get the parts to do so? i just need a hose coupling with a bung in it for the sensor lol

if you split the hose and used some type of t-connector...IDK, just thinking about it..to bad the IM is on already

 

Maybe put it in ne of the engine block drain holes....?
