How much tuning must be done after a turbo setup has been put into a rig?

You need at least a 2 bar MAP sensor. (as you will be running greater than atmospheric pressure.....) how much boost you decide to run will determine if you need a 3 bar sensor. (greater than 14 lbs boost?)

You will need larger injectors, to supply additional fuel for the turbo..... Or, some variety of aftermarket fuel management system. (tuning is cheaper I think.... still need the injectors though.)

You will need a wideband O2 sensor, and the ability to do some data logging to get the tune really dialed in. (laptop, 40 bucks for a cable, and free software....)

Might want to email/call Hemifever, and have a chat with him, for exactly what he would need to write you a good tune.

 

What size injectors? I've heard 42lb?

 

Not sure on that....... I haven't done this particular trick.

 

If you want to tune with SCT, you will need 39-42lb injectors and a 2 bar MAP. You can also use an FMU for more fuel (with stock injectors) and a BTM to retard timing, FMUs are a fairly crude way of doing it. You can also go with some sort of standalone computer like I did (I still use a BTM to retard timing), this will also require 39-42lb injectors, the computer itself is tuned with a laptop.

You need a wideband no matter what.

No need for a BTM with SCT, the SCT tune will take care of the timing.

 

Well which is better? And which is cheaper? The sct and bigger injectors, or the FMU and BTM, or the standalone?
