46RE Transmission Problem

So as I am waiting on the new goverenor solenoid, pressure sensor and TC ad solenoids with cable........I decide to pull the steering gearbox to rebuild. I just can't sit around and do nothing with so much work to be done. As I am starting to pull the box, I see everything moving. Tie rod ends wiggle, rubber detiorated on all ball joints. Looks like whole suspension needs work. Since I need the front end up on stands and it is stranded on ramps until transmission is done, I will be sitting around waiting on UPS........Grrrrrrrrr

Ahh...the benefits of suburbia...yep. J/K, although it is nice. I don't really like to gloat regarding others unfortunate geographic location though. = P
I hope you get your parts soon man. I'm still undecided on the exhaust. Haven't done enough research, and this paycheck disappeared pretty darn quick.

Hope to get deep pan tomorrow, but can't put it on until governor parts get here. Hope they come Friday or Satuday so I can work on it Sunday. (One of my employees is getting married on Saturday - so that jacks my working on truck Saturday.....)
Maybe it won't be such a bad thing to let this hamstring heal a little more for a couple of days. But this does put the kegger mod a little further back on project list. Have it built and sitting on the shelf, and am looking at replacing timing set and water pump at the same time. Don't know history of truck, but it appears that all maintenance has been neglected.

So the governor solenoi, pressure sensor, TC and OD solenoids, and cable arrived today. Got it all put on the VB and installed. Closed up (after fighting with park rod linkage) and filled with fluid.
At first, it went into reverse very softly. Backed out driveway and took it around the block. Sitll don't have 2-3 upshift. Pulled back in garage, and throuttle valve cable was off by 1/2." Adjusted this, and then it would not go into reverse..................
After rear band is adjusted by tighteneing to 72 ip, and backed off 2 turns, how much should the adjusting lever be able to move?
Thanks.

Thanks zman. I saw that the otehr day and tried to follow that when adjusting, so I am going to drop the pan again. I am wondering if somehow I did not get the rear band and the rear band link back together correctly. The first time, the strut fell out.
Anyone have any ideas why reverse was soooo soft engaging the first couple of times and now nothing? I am lost. Wondering if I should have even tackled this at home now.
