My restoration project (1995 Dodge Ram 1500 Truck Reg Cab 119" WB )So i am making my truck alot better than it currently is. I have a few issues and paint issues i shall photo everythin i can and post what i am doing. My truck does has a lil cancer on the some welds. Will post photos of truck and what i have done, and a few questions if they pop up. I think i am in the right catigory. If not please tell me. Will post pictures in a minute.

Well i dont like how the stripes are wearin out bad... (going to switch over to led tail lights which look better, glass will be shadow fogged)

Okay you can see some dirt, not rust... but there is some rust right by the weld (bottom of door tho) and very bad clear coat job comin off) This hood is from a newer dodge ram is what i was told... dont mind it but it shakes when going 55mph + going to fix that soon... Any ideas how to stop shaking?

So you can see the damage the person did when tryin to move a haybail with the bumper... paint fell off and it dented in (i fixed paint) dont know how to repair the dent... (someone please give some info?) Clear coat is cracked bad and you can see the "replaced" hood. and more clear coat crap errr

You can see the beautiful red lines end on the replaced hood lol my grill is broke... big hunk of it. I hit a bird and it cracked bad. so now the front grille is a lil loose because of the broken attactment piece... I fixed the pain on this side body pannel as you can see in a picture below.

This shall do for the time being. you dont realize it till you get 5 feet from it lol just sanded it down and rattle canned it because I will paint truck later for a school project since i have all my credits to graduate... (how did i do it)

Well i can see someone didnt put the air filter on right, had leaves and everythin in it (back was left open) someone didnt know how to close it im guessin, cleaned that and the air hose... Hope it didnt hurt the truck suckin in anything...

Is this normal to have carbon build up on the butterfly valves? because it was pretty carboned up... I cleaned it out though.

Ok... em im confused i think i may have a vacum leak. It is right behind the air filter body towards the cab of the truck. has 3 conections things and only 2 tubes goin idk where... I need some help! please help me

Plans for tomorrow:

1. Change oil
2. Replace oil filter (have to borrow the rench for that)
3.Call up auto glass place and complain about them not knockin on door when i was asleep and truck locked... (err 250$s and they dont knock) lol
4.Fix surface rust on under body (if there is any i can fix)
5.Check mufflers for holes (its kinda loud and i think thats why it squeels/sqeeks)
6. Re-check wiring, fog lights dont work
7. Find more things need to be fixed =[
8. Find parts online for truck (new headlights, tail lights, probably a new hood, lookin at a super charger, auto painting tools, new headers, muffler equipment, maybe a lift kit, new tires, new shocks(air or a regular shock?), new struts,New dash (this one is cracked and i dont like it) plastic top part, fabric for re-doin the interior (dog chewed up one seat), sunvisors (mine have rust stain on them for some reason i have no idea ( interior smells like smoke and wet dog ick!)

Does anyone have any suggestions of sites of any of these things i will be buying?

Plan is if I dont have to drive 40 miles south and do some lil jobs to help a friend out. (involves whole day) =[

 

There will be more experienced guys online later on. But ditch the supercharger idea, Your better off spending your cash building or buying a 408. As for the exhaust go to a muffler shop and they should fix you up. Or if you have the Equipment in your shop build your own.

 

1) Plenum plate replacement - Use a telescoping magnet to see if it sticks on the bottom under the butterfly valve to the bottom if it sticks you have steel and shoudl replace it with aluminum plate especially if you see oil down there.
2)Hood rattling? Mine was too Open the hood look at the two bump stops loosen then half a turn at a time shutting the hood until it fits perfect.
3) Plug wires, Distributor Cap, Wires. Nuff' Said
4)10$ you can get headlight restoration kit that works decent (or shell 80 for new ones)
5)new grill off e-bay should run you 40-100 stock vs custom
6) Lots to fix save your money repairing this vs supercharger. Supercharger and turbo could be added later for 2-3k
7) That is a vacuum thing check the lines for cracks if needed replace, looks decent from the pic.
8) replace the god awful side-view mirrors with Street Scene Cal Vu mirrors So much nicer and don't go in on you at high speeds after the rubber grommet wears.
9)headliner can be replaced for about 60 bucks I got my new visors on e-bay for 40 bucks. Interior should be a breeze on e-bay.
10) grind off as much rust as you possibly can get it to metal then either body fill it or herculine it :P heres some people here that have done amazing jobs with herculiner and since your truck is black it would be easy and look good. Check out a guy named MOTORBREATH on here.

So i decide to look around after i moved a friend (no didnt change oil or test the plate to see if it is steel, which most likely it aint it)... Noticed a few more things out of the normal...

Okay realized there is a hard foam on the left side (left square) it shakes in the back this might be the cause but do not know.

I dont know how to fix the bumper, please give me some info on how to fix it if anyone knows. I tried searchin it but didnt find anything. Is this the right bumper? ( i want to fix that because it looks bad...)\

This is why im replacing the headlights... Both have moisture in them from a crack... does not go so well with light or even the bulbs... Thinking about replacin them with somehting around these

It does this in park. Is the from the P. gasket bein messed up? And the oil pressure? goes from 40 to 0 to like 10 to 0 vise versa it keeps dropin goin up and droppin then it just drops waitin a couple minutes...

What is the best of the best of oil for this truck?

For the bumper, just loosen the bolts, have a friend help you position the bumper where you want it, and tighten 'em back up. (one has to hold, the other has to tighten.)

Oil pressure gauge. The gauge reads pressure, but, the light comes on anyway...... Yeah, mine does that once in a while too.... make sure oil level is good..... could try replacing the sending unit.... don't hold out a lot of hope for that. I would put a mechanical gauge on it, and see what it had to say.

 

also if your bumper braces are rusted out they will allow the cover to sag,i had to replace both sides of mine for that reason
