I was leaning toward this cam what do you think

Looks like a solid cam, and comp states it should work with the 318. Buy the recommended parts and it should be a done deal. I'd still check p2v to be sure.

I would get that RT cam from you, but i had a bad experience with a used cam. But it was a flat tappet SBC cam. Wore a lobe down to nothing. There was a groove in the lifter like you took a stick of butter and moved it across a hot cob of corn about 10 times. Perfect u groove.

Thanks for the lifter links.

BTW, if i torqued my harland sharps to 42 ft lbs instead of 24, would that be bad? I have not had any problems.

They are supposed to be 21 ft/lbs. You doubled the torque.

Assuming the rocker arms didn't seat any tighter to the block, I would say that if you ever need to take them off, you order new bolts from HS, as the threads are probably overstretched. If the rocker arms did seat further down, your lifter preload is higher than normal, and that theoretically could effect engine vac at idle and make it idle a bit rough. Without measuring the preload, I couldn't tell you for sure if it's a problem.

Most definitely a nastier lopey idle. Shakes just a bit too, like a caged animal, LOL. I think it's the PCM trying to calculate fuel trims. Gonna put a few hundred miles on it before I make any final judgments.

Lifter tick is much softer today. Got about 75 miles on it. Just waiting for the tick to go away completely before I pull any WOT runs.

Got a new alternator coming on Thursday. 136 amp vs. my current 117 amp. Should help with running the e fans and A/C together. Odd that the factory put the 140 amp fuse on a 117 amp alternator. I know I've seen 120 amp fuses on 2001's before.

I'm going to put a 250 amp alternator on my truck. I had a 90 amp stock and put under-drives on the truck if I run the blower while idling it would drain the battery now I have a 120 amp and its still not enough.

best bet would be to contact the manufacturer of said alternator, because that ain't going to be a stock alt for any vehicle.

You could also try one of those shops that installs "competition level" stereo equipment.

Seems as the though their "competition" is how quickly one can go deaf.
