Default When I turn the heat on the ac clutch stays engaged, ideas?

When I turn the ac/heat **** all the way to the right and put the air vents on defrost or something, the ac compressor stays on. It gets warmer but I feel like the ac is overpowering the heat, idk if this is possible. I found a brown vacuum line under the dash which is meant for the floor vents according to the fsm but I can't figure out where it goes. I'm not sure if this would make a difference. Oh and the vents change as I cycle them around. Any ideas on what to do? I took it to my ac guy and he only looked at it because I didn't feel like spending the money and he said the Heater core wasnt even turning on. I feel like it's an electrical issue but who knows. Thanks!

On certain settings, (basically, anything that involves the defroster vents) the a/c compressor will indeed run. The theory behind that is: Refrigerated air carries less moisture. Which is true. However, so far as I am concerned, if I am in a position that I need to run the defroster, ALL of the air is ALREADY refrigerated, as it is winter.......

On my truck, the blower speed **** goes both ways, (yep, it's bi.) on one side, it enables the a/c compressor, on the other, it does not. I rather like it. I think that changed in 98 though.

I don't know to be honest. He told me to turn it on then tapped it with a wrench and said it wasn't doing anything.

The heater core doesn't turn on or off. It just has coolant (which is hot... go figure) flowing thru it. Check the heater hoses, passenger side hose should be engine temp, drivers side hose should be slightly cooler. (on a fully warmed engine.)

You talking about the blower motor? Was he inside or outside the truck when tapping on it?

That's the blower motor then. Have you checked the fuses? Maybe the resistor is no good. Maybe it's disconnected. maybe the motor is shot.

Does the blower motor blow (lol) the ac too? Because the ac works great? And I have checked all fuses But I'll check again. Do you know where the resistor is before I try to decode the fsm lol
