rear springs worn out?
Hey guys. Picked up 1/2 a pallet of sod today with the truck and the rear end is sitting on the bumpers. Rides a little rough lol. I looked up the weight and it should be around 900-1000 lbs. I know I'm under payload capacity so are the springs just getting worn out or is that normal? Truck has a little over 150,000 miles. Thanks.

Junk yard, or various aftermarket companies make them as well. Dealer will want a premium price for them...... (putting it politely....) Trouble with JY springs is, you may end up with the same problem. (seems to be fairly common, do a google search on "dodge lean", and you will see what I mean.)

I was wondering about that myself. My truck creaks pretty bad over bumps. I isolated it to the back right area. Shocks are cheap and easy to replace so Ill do those anyhow since I just bought it with 130k. The bed sits cockeyed also, and the creak is probably somewhere around the springs so the whole damn thing may end up getting rebuilt if the new shocks dont help.

I had the same problem on my other truck. Years of hauling loads that were too heavy from truck. Bought replacements that were heavier duty (extra leaf) and made a lot of difference. I would suggest internet search for after market springs (not helpers as the original weakness is still there) and change them out.
I measured the frame height from floor on the back of frame with Ram empty, then with 500 lbs, then 800 lbs to make sure one of the springs (or both) were not sprung.

when i had 700-800 lbs in my Jeep (1,100 with me in it) the rear springs sagged also, but i had about 2 inchs of room before the bumpers were touching the real axle. So i dunno, on both my Jeeps if i sit in the trunk itll go down quiet a bit.. but i weigh 290lbs
I say its normal because other Jeep owners say the same thing, and i doubt ur ram springs are any or much diff from the Jeeps, as my ZJ is rated for 1140 or so pounds like your pickups.
