Maybe it's me, but some thing doesn't look right about how those 2 gears are lined up.

I think it's just the angle of the pictures making them look off. But it's hard to tell.

Not able to go faster than 45mph along with a misfire on #8 tells me the cat is clogged.

Yup I agree with v-dub, also check the routing of your spark plug wires, theres a certain way they must be routed or they will touch and arc!

Check the diy section I think its covered in there

I was thinking the same. The dimple on the crank gear is above the key-way.

That's a reference mark, so you know which marks to use when lining up the cam/crank gears. He has more than one keyway on the crank gear. I don't really see the dimple on the crank gear though, but, that may just be a trick of the light.

There is a dimple on the tooth that does not show on the photo. I lined the marks up brefore removing the original gear set and installed the new set without moving anything. The tooth dimple lines up (straight edge) with the mark on cam gear.

Well, one of them should be lining up with the dot on the cam gear, I would think.

Got intake pulled out and only broke off one bolt. Cannot understand how I got lucky by one on the front breaking off. My luck ususally would have had one at the back break off! While letting broken bolt soak in penetrant, I pulled plenum pan off to see how bad the gasket was blown:

You can see some of the gasket pushed out - and where a piece is missing - probably in the oil pan...

Don't know if they get any uglier than this one or not....
