Default CEL Cyl 8 misfire

After rebuilding transmission and now driving for a couple days, I have gotten cyl 8 misfire code twice. Funny thing is I don't feel or hear misfire. Engine runs fine, idles smooth.

I searched and read other misfire threads and it appears that misfire was noticeale to those that posted.

My question - could code be incorrect, or can it be misfiring and me not be able to notice? I am planning to install kegger mod with new plugs, wires, cap and rotor this weekend so it is not a real issue yet. This did not occur for the 200 miles or so I have driven it before pulling tranny back out and reinstalling. It just showed up today.

Plenum! Read the post stickied at the top of the page (unless that's what you meant by the keggar mod)

It is just strange that it suddenly showed up and I only knew it becasue it set a code. Couldn't feel it or hear a misfire.

Kegger mod is on the bench ready to install, but have been out of town all week. Plenum was blown when I picked up the truck, and PO already replaced cat, so I had this in the works while I was rebuilding transmission. Going to replace timing set and water pump, 180 t-stat and load SCT tune as well this weekend.

And Rangers just need to get traction - it will happen. Since they smashed Tampa Bay and blew out Detroit, "suck" doesn't really seem to fit.....Go Nellie!

Pull the number 8 plug, and see how badly it's fouled.

I am having my dads friend do my plenum real soon, not going to have him do the kegger mod though. I was thinking about the 180 t-stat but i am going into the winter months soon so i wont need it.

and i hope cruz breaks his arms and legs....lol i hate him

You might also pull the injectors out of the fuel rail and check them as well.

I plan to look at them as well when I pull it down, hopefully this evening. Won't get anything done Saturday, or Sunda, or Monday - gonna be in Arliongton watching the Rangers win the SERIES!

Depending on how bad the plenum gasket is, it is very possible the cat is clogging again.

I think it only has 1000 to 1500 miles on it. Is there any way to determine condition of cat? Of course if I am in doubt, a new one will get thrown in there.

Only issue is scheduling what to do next. Did front end including brakes, but still need to do rear shocks and brakes. I know shocks are original, and since I don't know condition of brakes (other than they seem to work OK) I plan to replace shoes and check/repair/replace wheel cylinders. I want to get allo fhte mechanical issues resolved or preventative work done before I start doing body work to prevent dust and grease from contaminating surface or work surfaces, etc.
