Default HELP! 1994 360 where a 1998 318 Used to be

Hello, i havnt been on the site in a little while but my username here used to be toader222, any how i am helping my friend put a 1994 360 in his 1998 dodge ram (because he blew the 318 up). i changed all of the sensors (i could find) because none of the wiring was the same from the 318 to the 360. all of the swap went well until we tried to turn it over, the starter cranked fine but we got no fuel pressure as the pump would not kick on as it should when we switched the key to the "run" position. also we could not get any spark! i have no idea what we would have missed because i am almost positive i hooked everything up correctly. please HELP!!! any ideas are welcome, and as always i appreciate everyones help here in the second gen forum!!! i really need to get this truck up and running as winter is upon us and he needs the truck for work.

Thank you,
Justin

Crank sensor get whacked when the engines were swapped? (on the back of the block, passenger side, reads the flywheel.) Cam sensor wiring get pinched? (in the distributor, harness runs to the drivers side, I think...... might be wrong there.) Since you aren't getting fuel pump prime, you are looking at an ASD event. Cam and crank sensors are the first suspects for that.

Would the distributor be the same with the cam sensor? 94-98?

Valid point gdstock, and you are correct, rockauto shows different numbers for 94 vs. 98. No clue what the difference is. Might be as simple as the color of the wires, then again, it may not be. Swapping over the original to the truck sensors might be a good idea.... Seem to be the same for 318 vs. 360 though. (given the same year engine.)

I was thinking of the cam sensor in the 98 dist. Was it the same in 94? 94 was pre OBD.

i have changed the cam sensor in the distributor, and yes alot of the sensors from the OBD1 motor did not match the connections for the OBD 2 motor, obviously the reason that i changed them, i did find that i forgot to change out one sensor its on the back passenger side of the motor and looks like a small 3" canister? i will get that changed out and hooked up as well. the crank position sensor wires may have gotten pinched when we mated the motor and trans together but i did not think there was any wire damage. do you think that that could have been enough to cause the failure? i will verify that the wiring is in good shape and if it isnt i will definately replace. any other ideas? i'd really appreciate it the help as well as the feed back so far! i really need to get this truck back on the road!

Thanks!

oh and the 318 got way too hot too many times 4x4 ing out the mountains..... he has since learned that even though it is a dodge it is not bullet proof!

That little cannister feller IS the crank sensor. Check the wiring. Make sure everything is up to snuff, and the sensor didn't get whacked. (common on engine/trans swaps.)

On the back of the motor, next to the dist? That would be the oil pressure sensor.
