I think there is another upgrade you can do in the fifth gear portion of the trans. (that seems to be its weak point..... although, not as bad as the 3500.....)

Your current trans is pretty much smoked, is it not? For what you would spend fixing it, you could prolly do the upgrade. Sounds like a good idea to me.....

no, my trans is fine. it's just a 46re and i hate it. i have never liked automatics. and they don't like me. we can never seem to agree on which gear the car needs to be in. the only reason i put it in was because it it was so cheap to do when i was swapping the V8 into my jeep. well, now it's time to get rid of it.

it's supposed to be out of a 96, but i haven't checked the numbers yet to verify.

assuming it's a 96 it will have the 5.61 first gear and the funky anti down shift syncros on first and second that require the really expensive gear oil. everything else should be pretty standard. 10 spline clutch, 23 spline out put... exactly what i need.

thanks for the help guys. i'll update you when it's install time.

car-part.com is a salvage yard lookup website. i found this one in decateur georgia for $650, plus $50 core and $150 shipping. $850 total. i even got them to throw in all the misc nuts and bolts, clutch fork and bellhousing.
