So I just bought my 99 Ram 4x4 5.9 a couple weeks ago. Ran fine until yesterday. As i was leaving the gas station i had a check engine light come on and noticed that it didnt want to shift into second and third. Id have to rev it real high for it to shift. When everything is cool it runs normal. As soon as it reaches operating temperature, it wont shift right. I ran a scan for codes and got p1756 shift solenoid B Performance and p0301 cylinder 1 misfire. Is this going to be an expensive part for me to replace for the transmission? What all parts do I need? I know 0 about transmissions and am intimidated but i will dig in there because i would like to learn. If any of you fine gents could help me out that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Shift solenoid B? Erm...... I don't think your trans even HAS a shift solenoid B.......
Up for an experiment? Crawl under the truck, and on the drivers side of the trans, behind where the shift linkage and such is, there is an 8 pin connector. Unplug it.
Take the truck for a test drive. Bear in mind, you will have ZERO automatic functions. The truck will start off in whatever gear you tell it to (with the shifter), and will NOT shift unless you move the lever. So, start out slow in first, shift to second, then to third. If the trans shifts when you tell it to, and you get nice firm shifts..... then you just need to replace the governor pressure sensor, and solenoid. Not really all that bad of a job.

P-1756 GOV PRESS NOT EQUAL TO TARGET @ 15-20 PSI
You will need new sensors, Easy job as previously stated. I would recomend changing both the sensor and solenoid. If you want to upgade check this out, This is the best setup on the market, I use these on my HD builds.
