WHAT NOW, Broke Header
point made..... Mine appear to be leaking at the gasket though.... they were installed when I bought the truck.
most of the modifications made to these things like lifts and bigger tires have negative trade offs but hey We still do them

Sheriff420 uses the ebay headers and seems to have good luck with them?

Yea but he spends most of his time working on his camaro and not driving his truck.
Plus if IRC he has welded them or can at least do so if needed.
Those are the Steel one's. Mch like the one's I put on my Hemi. Though my order was one of those they consolidated at APObox.com to get all the crap to Germany. But I do Vaguely recall a pacesetter mini brochure in there....
Sort of off topic, but where in Germany are you stationed? I have a sister stationed in Stuttgart AFB.
WEll the ones on my truck now are Edelbrock so you do have a good name brand. I have some money in mt paypal now, but it seems I will have to sale some of my new Fisher or WEstern plow wiring on Ebay so I can have enough money to get a new set of Headers. I was looking at the stainless Flex hose or pipe yesterday at the store. I'm thinking after I repace the headers in wouldn't hurt to install one on both sides. You see them on front wheel drive cars all the time. It would seem to give that little bit of flex I need and not hurt the headers or gaskets
One thing I did read on the ones on Ebay is how thick they are, some are 16 Gag and some are 14. ALso some of the weilds look bad on the cheap ones.

Yes I have the $130 ebay cheapies. I think they're decent headers. The flange is a little rusty but the pipes aren't. They're about 4 years old. The issue I had when installing them was that the y-pipe had to be squeezed together a little bit to make it fit on the headers. I think the pressure from the y-pipe is what caused the one to crack. Now the y-pipe slips right on without any resistance.
Here's a couple quotes from me. Modify a wrench like I did and installing these headers is a breeze. It was just a diagonal cut, flip it over and weld it up.

I got it fixed today. At least I hope I did. And now I feel like frosty the snowman.
I put my old Champion truck plugs back in there and ditched the heat shields too because I get spark knock every now and then depending on the tune and the gas I get. I assumed that the .065 gap on the Bosch Platinum +4 might have something to do with it.
I also figured that there would never be a better time to change the plugs then when the header was off on the hard side of the engine.
I modified a wrench and anyone that is thinking of getting shorty headers should do this to a wrench because it made things so much easier.

Oh, and it's really easy to hang out in one spot a second too long and blow a hole in that paper thin metal, you can see where I did it twice in the picture.

If you're going to modify a wrench yourself then either wear a gas mask while you do it or hold your breath, weld quickly, get away then breath. When you weld chrome vanadium it puts off toxic fumes.
