Default dry oil filter

I was changing my oil, and unscrewing the oil filter I was waiting for the oil to start pouring out as usual, but it never did. It came off dry. I took It off and turn it upside down and a few drops came out. This had me curious, so after I got done putting the new filter on, and new oil in, I started the truck for a few minutes and then turned it off. I unscrewed the oil filter a little bit and oil started flowing out so I know that it is getting oil now, but why was my previous oil filter dry? The truck had been sitting in the garage for a day before I decided to change it. The filters I use and always have, on Tahoe, silverado, and my dodge, are Fram oil filters. PH16. Any idea why the oil filter might have been dry? there was oil in it. 4 1/2 qts worth.

if the truck has been sitting then the oil has probably made its way back into the oil pan. this is why you are usually suppose to run your engine for a bit before you change your oil. i would never trust a fram filter on my engine after what i have seen on youtube.

What's wrong with fram? The silverado has 250K miles, tahoe had 230k miles, the new yukon which we also use fram filters on has 45k miles, and my dodge has 150k miles...Fram seems to be pretty efficient for me. This is the first time I've ever seen the oil filter dry. I was searching and found out it could be caused by a faulty anti-drain valve. I'm not sure if this is the case or not but I wanted to know what you guys think. What oil filters do you use or trust?

they are built very cheap compared to other filters that are the same price or cheaper.

So what could be the cause of the dry filter?

The dry filter is strange. It cannot seep uphill out of the canister and back to the pan. Onl;y thing that will allow tyhe filter to be empty isd lack of oiling, but I never heard of oiling failure and then start oiling again.

I'm not asking what oil filter is best, I asked why fram was bad, and from my experience I've never had issues or bad efficiency. And I'm asking why my oil filter could be dry. If it is because of a cheap filter, what would be making it dry?
It is strange that after sitting a day the filter was empty, and after adding new oil and filter and starting the truck, oil was getting to the filter. I mean it was dry, no drips or oil pooled in the old filter when I was taking it off. Strange. Does anyone know about the anti-drain valve?

I knew it was a Fram before you even said it. Well marketed junk! As you can see, their anti-drainback valves are quite effective
